Community theater quality at Broadway prices
I bought plane tickets, made hotel reservations, flew in from out of state and paid $125 per person for main floor access and the “good seats“, which turned out to be cheap folding chairs without an inch of room between them. Crawled over people’s laps to get to our seats, didn’t dare get up to pee because the whole damn row would’ve had to get up with me. And I am a small person. God only knows what our bigger friends had to go through. The backdrop for the stage was What looked like an old black bedsheet, with a small graphic being projected that was straight out of eighth grade computer class. Katt Williams was not the headliner. He was the host. He came out and did 10 minutes and then introduced a lineup of other comedians, emceeing in between each act. The little bit we got to hear from him was great, and the comedians were great as well. I laughed out loud several times. But I could’ve seen this lineup on a good Saturday night at my local comedy club, not at an arena with a major comedian who is supposed to be headlining. The only reason I’m not giving it one star is because the comedians were so funny, but the acoustics sucked, and overall it was a really cheap money-grab. I feel tricked. Katt Williams and UIC, I want my money back.
